Over-Glorified Hair Exercise

Yes, quite over-glorified. I did this 'cause I've been floating around "elite art" clubs, and I've seen some really nice hair done by people. So I said to myself "I can do that !"

Of course, I drew a pic of my client in an exaggerated position he would probably never be in so I could better assume the hairdo on his massive head. And of course, the line art was very nice. And of course, twenty minutes into colouring the picture, I realized it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it was gonna be.

But I think I finished strong. Though I do think the palette I used was too light and pale even for Sheldon. But the shadows on his shirt are brilliant, better than what I normally do. So I judge this to be a 7/10.

However...

I ran into a LOT of problems with this picture. I'll start with the smallest. About an hour after I coloured his skin, I stopped liking the picture. I couldn't figure out why, but I kept colouring. And then I just couldn't take it and I was trying to figure out why the heck I couldn't stand looking at this picture! Turns out it was the shading around his mouth that was bothering me. I fixed it and yay.

Another problem I ran into was in fact his hair. There was actually a lot more hair in the space that is parallel to the top of his eyebrow(s). I got rid of it because it didn't look good.

The third problem was his outfit. To be frankly FRANKLY honest, the way I shaded the wife beater made it look like he was wearing a sports bra. And since Sheldon doesn't wear bras, that wasn't so great. So I had to fix that. It took me some time to fix it, but I did. I think.

Now the worst problem. You could probably guess just by looking at it, but you're not looking at the whole line art. In fact, you're looking at about half of it.

When I first drew this, he was topless. 'Cause I wanted it to look natural. Then I started colouring it, and two seconds into it, I felt... perverted. So that's why he's wearing a shirt.

Hunh. Despite the rhinoceros look of his profile, Sheldon almost looks semi-attractive. I need to fix that next time; Sheldon's supposed to be an ugly dude.
