Well, I have a cold again, big surprise for me, which means I sleep worse than I normally do. Equaling pretty darn bad. But there's an upside to progressively turning into Doctor Claw's rejected voice actor. (My nose is half swollen shut as I type...) I was able to spend the night finishing my mom's Mother's Day present. It took me a total of 12 hours, I think, from start to finish. I did about seven hours last night, and I finally did it! Since it's pretty much what I'm good for, it's a picture, and I'll upload it later for you guys and gals to see. After Mom's seen it.

But wow... What's not normal about this cold is I actually lost my annoying voice. So if I try to talk at a normal volume, I'll stop sounding like a robot and won't sound like anything at all. Hunh... And it wasn't even a bad cold. Even weirder is I'm getting over it.

Now on to other things. I realized I missed out on seeing the classic Disney movies, and as a fan of the Kingdom Hearts game series, I had another excuse to watch old Disney films. And I quickly realized that if the movie opens with slow, waltz-like music and a book, the movie is going to be awful. The only reason why I sat through Sleeping Beauty and Snow White was so I could see Maleficent and Grimhilde respectively. And as a side note, Maleficent's name is in my online spell-check dictionary, but Grimhilde's isn't? Why? :ohnoes: They fit Ponyo's maiden name in there. Meh, who cares?

But anyhoo, the later Disney features, for all their flaws, were so much better, both with characters and delivery of story. I actually still have The Hunchback of Notre Dame in my DVD player; it's officially my favourite Disney Renaissance movie. Curse Esmeralda for making Frollo die because of himself. I only watched it 'cause I heard Hellfire, one of the awesomest and deepest bad guy songs I've heard. It would have been better if those gargoyles hadn't had so much screen time, though I understand why they were there. And curse that abomination of a sequel they made. Destroy Esmeralda? Hah! Destroy that sequel, please, and have no mercy on it!

Beauty and the Beast was also surprisingly likable. Gaston was hilarious, though I (honestly, not joking here) almost literally gagged when he did that hair thing...

I even searched down some "House of Mouse" episodes, and while not knee-slappingly hilarious, they are incredibly entertaining. Full of reference joke, an engaging structure, and the most innocent yet loving couple in animated history, Mickey and Minnie. Plus, it's my type of story: lots of characters from different stories made by the same studio in one place. And when people burst out singing, it makes sense.

Argh... I could go on for a while, but I don't wanna use up your time, so I'm-a signing off. :salute:

The funny thing is despite my fanboyism, I kind of agree with you on Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Each one only had specific characters that saved them from being truly bad: Snow White had the Dwarfs, who were actually interesting and fun, while Sleeping Beauty had Maleficent. The other characters were uninteresting and dull. I appreciate Snow White for being the first feature-length animated film ever made, but come on. Pinocchio was loads better, and that came right after Snow White.

Yeah, House of Mouse was just pure fan-service. If it weren't for the cartoons, I wouldn't have cared about that show. The main story lines themselves were just bland.
