Mother Goddess and Chronos for Freyad-Dryden by GenreChowderStudios Mother Goddess and Chronos for Freyad-Dryden by GenreChowderStudios
~Freyad-Dryden's Mother Goddess and Chronos. Not much to say about this here. I do like how it came out, though, especially the glowy, shiny bubbles and the curtain. One of ~Freyad-Dryden's friends did a picture of the Mother Goddess [link], and I didn't want to use the same angle. I think the pic is better for it. Not better than that other pic, better than it would have been than if I'd copied the same angle.

I grew up reading Beverly Cleary's Ramona series, and the person who drew Mrs. Quimby (Alan Tiegreen) drew her in such a kind and loving way. There was less emphasis on traditional beauty, though she looked alright, and more emphasis on softness, goodness, and something like wisdom. I remember a specific picture from Ramona and Her Mother in which Mrs. Quimby was looking out the window during a rainy day. That image, and her image in general, always shaped how I thought a motherly woman should be drawn. ~Freyad-Dryden told me to draw the Mother Goddess in a manner I find to be motherly. So I drew someone that reminded me of Mrs. Quimby.

Stunning work!
I love that your version of the Mother Goddess is so different from mine as far as looks go, but the essence of her is still so similar in both depictions. It would really be interesting to see even more artists paint their take on the character, as everyone would experience her differently. :)

The angle is great too, it truly adds to the out-of-this-world feeling especially with Chronos surrounding Her.
And even with all that is going on in the picture, your eyes go straight to Her gentle smile, I am VERY impressed!

Ahh, thank you! =D

That would be interesting to see. If he had time, it'd be awesome if ~Freyad-Dryden would set up a thing in which a ton of people draw the Mother Goddess. Seeing all the different takes would be pretty amazing. It'd be like an event or something.

It took me a while to figure out what angle I wanted, but I'm glad I settled on the one I ended up with. I never thought it made look out-of-this-world, but now that you mention it, it does kind of. Thank you for the compliments.

If I'm going to do events, I'd probably want to do events where people create original material. But if it coincided with another project I was doing, I probably could do something like that. But first I'd want to have a more complete body of Gaea artwork before I ask people to draw something that's already been drawn. I only asked for the Mother Goddess in this case because 1) I want a complete series of the major Elder Gods, 2) Chronos on his own would be kind of boring, and 3) Chronos and the Mother Goddess are always together anyway.
Still, I'll keep that in mind.

You should do it at some point. It would be really cool to see all those different takes on the Mother Goddess.

Amazing work! The lighting really does a lot for this, I love how you've used it to give it such a angelic feel! :D Great work, the pose really seems to fit as well and I like it a lot! And I love your comment, knowing about why you drew her the way you did makes this drawing mean so much more to me, and most viewers I would think :D These days most artists just post like one line comment and refuse to talk about themselves at all, and seeing something like this makes you so much more of a real artist :D Lol~

Sorry I babble~

I'm glad you got so much out of the art and its description. I did enjoy sharing the bit about Mrs. Quimby. I didn't realize how much how she was drawn affected me until I settled on this design. Or at least it didn't totally register until then.

It's a shame artists aren't talking about themselves (in moderation). It's great self-exploration.
