Man Cares for Sheep by GenreChowderStudios Man Cares for Sheep by GenreChowderStudios
For whatever reason a long time ago, I was visited by the urge to do a picture with a bearded man in the middle of a herd of sheep. Similar to the last one I uploaded, this picture was a print. People seemed to really dig it, though they also seemed to think he was in the desert. He's actually in a very wet and windy (fictional) region in East/Southeast Asia, but since the very back of the background is bare, I can see how people would think arid desert. I actually did that to create the illusion that the sheep just go on forever, but you know, art's a two-way street.

I still really like it. It's nicely done, I think, and the concept of a man being overwhelmed by sheep is realistic but looking at it is just silly. Good stuff.

It's probably also because of the colors.  The colors you used are very strongly associated with deserts: browns, tans, reds.

But it's a very nice picture all the same.

Probably. I was actively trying not to use my favorite color, green, because I feel I lean on it and its complement too much. Without green, that whole arid thing came through, I guess.

Yeah, a lack of green does make things look more arid and dry.  Alternatively, though, blue can avoid the dry look, too.  And yellow-green works, too.  It's all a question of the colors you choose.
