Here's an art print I had done a while back. Certainly one of the more involved pictures I've done. I learned how to make palm fronds look semi-convincing in this picture. I was trying to incorporate some color balance to help your eye move across the page. For instance, the boy's clothes and the bird are a similar blue relative to the clouds, and there are two red palm trees on either side of the picture as well as a tiny one nearer to the center. I like it very much, though now that I look at it, the colors are a bit much. A touch too saturated for my taste. Then again, I'm very partial to muted/desaturated colors of late, so maybe's that's what that's all about...
I dunno, I think the colors are very nice.
Thanks, but you know, it's strange. I uploaded this from a Mac, and in my experience, Macs display color more intensely than Windows computers. Now that I'm looking at it from my Toshiba laptop, it looks fine.
Honestly the colors were what first drew me to the thumbnail of this picture, so I think they really work to give the scene a warm and inviting tone
The faint mountain in the back is very beautiful too and ties the composition together nicely.
Also really love the grass and the palm trees, very well done!
Thanks much. With the grass, I wanted to fill in some blank areas with both lineart and shading. Someone pointed out that in Miyazaki films, when you look at the grass, there're often different types of grasses and plant stuff happening, so I incorporated a bit of that. Glad it turned out well.
